I get annoyed when I see bad grammar, poor punctuation, wrong spelling, or incorrect use of words in things I’m reading.

I consider myself to be fairly traditional (some would call it old-fashioned). I don’t understand emojis and don’t like using slang. I like to see and read text that is written correctly, using good English.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist and like everything just so. I enjoy learning and improving.

Becoming a proofreader appealed to me, as it means not only do I get the satisfaction of correcting those niggling errors, but I also get to help other people.

The details really do matter!

If I’m looking for a service, I’ll immediately skip past the companies who can’t spell or have errors in their marketing material. It makes me feel like they don’t care, and if they can’t get that bit right, I doubt the actual service will be any better.

Good first impressions make a difference.

Good writing should be easy to read. Long sentences can be overwhelming. Incorrect, or no punctuation, can produce a totally different meaning to that intended. Wrong captions against pictures can be confusing. Repeated or transposed words can ruin the flow.

If you’re trying to put forward ideas, you will be considered more credible without mistakes in your writing. People will feel more confident in trusting you if your words provide correct and clear communication.
