I am Gemma Taylor, registered as a sole trader, operating as GTProofreading.
I offer proofreading and basic editing services to a variety of clients.
This privacy policy describes what information I collect from you, why, how it used, how it is stored and protected, in accordance with GDPR.
What data do I collect and how it is used and stored?
I only collect data from you that is necessary for me to provide a complete service, perform my work, and comply with legal obligations.

Due to using Squarespace Invoicing and Stripe payment processor, I do not see your banking details. Please refer to their privacy policies for information on how they use your data.
If a file is too large to transfer via email, I use MEGA cloud storage, which uses end to end encryption.
I aim not to keep any of your data on my personal computer, but in secure cloud or third-party storage (mainly Microsoft One Drive).
Everything I use is password-protected and only I have access to it.

How long do I keep your data?
I keep your data for 7 years to comply with HMRC.
I do not keep copies of your document files, only of details, contracts, briefs, invoices, etc.
Once your project document is completed and has been returned to you, I delete it from my system.
Do I share your data?
I aim to keep your data confidential, safe and secure.
The only time I will share your data is if I am required to do so by law for any legal event, or if I am audited by HMRC.
I do not subcontract work. I do not share or discuss your work with anybody else.
I will never sell or pass your data to third parties.
I may, with your permission, use your name and a rough description of work I have done for you, in my marketing (e.g. Joe Bloggs — ‘Pumpkin pie for tea’ — a short Hallowe’en story.) If you would rather I didn’t do this, please let me know.
